Penny Lane Large Penny Lane Sign Penny Lane — This street in Liverpool is located not far from where Paul McCartney and John Lennon grew up. The two boys would meet at Penny Lane junction to catch a bus into the centre of the city. In 1967, The Beatles released a song written by Paul McCartney titled, "Penny Lane".
