The Crypts — Adjacent to the Cathedral is the crypts, which hosts the annual Camra Beer Festival. This event has raised some criticism by a few in the Church hierarchy, but the Cathedral administrators defend the function, which has become a huge event each February known as "Ales From the Crypt" drawing numerous visitors to the Cathedral. At the moment the Crypts do not have a direct access through the Cathedral, but there are plans to make an access via a glazed link to a small pavilion which will lead to the crypts, enabling the public to see the entirety of the crypt designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens during the 1930s. The church he designed was never built due to financial restrictions, only the crypt was completed. |
